The Therapist

Joyce Leung

Joyce discovered the healing power of hypnotherapy by first having been a beneficiary of the therapy. After having worked in executive search for the financial industry in Hong Kong, she decided to pivot her career into becoming a therapist, which she knows corresponds to her purpose.

She then relocated to Paris to receive hypnotherapy training. As a hypnotherapist, Joyce has conducted in-person and online sessions in Europe and in Mauritius and Hong Kong. She is also a certified sound meditation practitioner.

One of the few English speaking therapists in Lyon, she works extensively with expats in Lyon and France.

She is also a Tibetan singing bowl practitioner, having followed a few masters including Master Shree in Kathmandu, Nepal.

How hypnotherapy changed my life

It started with a burnout when I was still working a corporate job.

I know how it feels like. There seems to be no end to the terror of facing the people whom you work with. The powerlessness. Being eaten away with the crippling thought of ‘am I this incompetent?’ while inflating ‘confidence’ in front of those whom you work with.

Chronic sickness, seeing my physician once every 2 weeks, followed by an unending cycle of bodily infections, dermotological issues… and more. Sessions of seeing psychologists and psychiatrists confirmed that I had depression but I could not bring myself to implement the changes that I knew I needed to despite those clinical visits.

Until I started hypnotherapy. It accessed my childhood experience which formed the limiting beliefs I had had of myself, how those experiences had always informed my decision-making process and how those decisions created a certain emotional reactions which sustain the negative patterns like downward spirals. It was in speaking to the emotions that still dwelled in my body, the inner child inside me that allowed me to evolve into the person I have learned to love.
